The Ballad of Wallis Island is a new diegetic musical about an eccentric lottery winner named Charles, played by Tim Key, who invites his favorite musician named Herb, played by Tom Basden, to play an exclusive private gig. The only problem is Charles hasn’t told Herb that he’s also invited Herb’s ex-bandmate and ex-girlfriend, Nell, who is played by Carey Mulligan. Tom Basden and Tim Key co-wrote the film, which will be in theaters on March 28th this year, we had the chance to watch it at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.
