Aladdin
/Aladdin is a live-action remake based off the Disney animated classic, of the same name, some thirty years later.
Aladdin is a young street rat who lives life day by day trying his best to survive. He, alongside his pet monkey Abu, runs into a disguised Princess Jasmine who he helps and befriends on the streets of Agrabah. She hides her true identity from him, but after a new prince arrives in the city to try and court her, she leaves and returns to the palace. The Grand Vizier Jafar is growing impatient of not having power so he seeks out a magic lamp in order to become Sultan. After Princess Jasmine reveals her identity to Aladdin, Jafar makes him an offer - to retrieve the lamp from the Cave of Wonders and he would make Aladdin rich enough to impress the Princess. Aladdin agrees, but after Abu becomes consumed by the riches inside, they barely escape but not before Aladdin unleashes the Genie from inside the lamp. Aladdin must then navigate this newly acquired power he has and learns that bigger isn’t always better.
Let Me Explain:
Mena Massoud who plays Aladdin is an actor to watch out for in the future.
Hot Jafar is….hot Jafar.
Will Smith’s version of the Genie is just himself but you can’t really get mad at that.
Naomi Scott is a perfect Princess Jasmine and gets to channel her Lemonade Mouth days.
The use of CGI and why some people seem to outright hate it and ignore almost everything else.
Comparisons and differences between the animated movie and live-action retelling.
The Aladdin vs. Booksmart box-office drama
How these new live-action remakes, love them or hate them, bring something for everyone to profit off of.
And that this wave of 90’s nostalgia is gonna be here to stay for the next couple of years.
