TIFF 2023 Lineup Reveals First 60 Films
/Taking place September 7-17, 2023, the 48th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival has given us a sneak peek into their lineup. As the dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes continue from the expected 200-plus-title schedule talent presence could be slim. The Venice Film Festival lost its big opening-night title, Challengers, starring Zendaya. In order to follow the strike rules, actors are not allowed to promote their work. Since the DGA and AMPTP have agreed upon a new contract, directors can technically show up and promote their work but only under that role.
These 60 films are part of their Gala and Special Presentations programs. "This year’s Galas & Special Presentations showcase a rich tapestry of talent, vision, and storytelling,” said Cameron Bailey, CEO, TIFF. The first batch of the 2023 Official Selection features 37 World Premieres, seven International Premieres, 12 North American Premieres and four Canadian Premieres.
