Similarities in Batman V Superman & Captain America: Civil War

So I’m sure by now most of you have seen both Batman V Superman and Captain America: Civil War so be aware that the video up above is going to be full of spoilers. At the same time, I’m pretty sure most of you have already preferred one over the other and have also seen how much of a division both of these films have caused. But about a month ago I tweeted out a similarity I saw between both films:

After watching both films - the same amount of times - I noticed that there’s actually many more similarities. Here's a quick list of references:

  • Both films begin with a flashback of the death of the billionaire's parents.
  • We see the American icon cause a disaster in Africa which leads the government to get down his back.
  • We are then treated to visions/flashbacks/holograms of the billionaire's suppressed issues.
  • Mommy issues play a main role in both films. One causes them to be friends - the other causes a division.
  • Both villains aren't physically demanding but aim to pin the heroes against each other.
  • Both films show off royal figures from hidden societies who make their big screen appearances as side characters who steal the show before getting their own movie. 
  • Both films have a god-like all-powerful hero who makes mistakes due to a love interest.
  • Both films are a setup to the two-part team-up films that are to follow.
